Oswestry, Home of the Rail Machines  Collection

The Rail Machines ( RM) Collection consists of a complete industrial monorail system, unique

 monorail steam engine with carriages and narrow gauge fun engines.

This Dyffryn Tanat & Region Development Trust project is neither a railway project  nor a

 railway museum project even though it includes elements of both.

- It will transport the RM collection from Blaenau-Ffestiniog where it is danger of destruction

 by rust to be restored in Oswestry.

- it will thereby conserve unique items of UK industrial  ingenuity  for display and fun rides.

- it will enhance most of the growing variety of Oswestry's attractions and events for local

 people and visitors.

- It will  deliver  economic benefits for the town including a range of new jobs.


The Mono Rail

The only truly monorail steam engine in the world to be at home in Oswestry.

1 steam and 150 industrial engines (petrol, diesel and electric) Marks I to VII form the engine stock.

* 2 miles of track, points and all other necessary parts including a bridge unit.

* Richard Morris, Engineer with knowledge of every piece and its history.

Most but not all requiring restoration work, to become a permanently available enhancement to

 a range of Oswestry's  growing attractions  and events.
 
The restoration work being performed by young people receiving a uniquely holistic  learning

 experience  designed by DT&R with exit plan involving new permanent and part-time
 
employment.

  *    Potential Permanent home at Park Hall, the Show ground or accompanying the new supermarket?
  *    Track and appropriate carriages will be added to this collection to add to the enjoyment these rare engines and cycle will provide.
